Our instinct as business owners is to talk about our own stuff, how amazing our product or service is, and how long we’ve been in business for.
All that stuff is great - but the customer doesn’t want to hear it.
Think about it.
The vast majority of ads talk about the company and how environmentally-friendly they are.
If a prospect sees your environmentally friendly advertisement for cute puppies, they’ll simply move on because it doesn’t improve their life in any way shape or form.
It’s the same thing in conversation.
If an oddly smelling homeless man walks up to you with an empty cup in his hand, you’ll think he wants something from you.
It’s the same thing in your advertising. You need to immediately pull the reader in and get them interested in your business by making it clear that you can solve their problems.
How To Use WIIFM To Attract More Clients
Number 1: Read Your Ads & Social Media
Read your stuff out loud. “Does it sound like something my perfect customer would want to hear? Or is it something that they may not be attracted to?”
I see countless business owners fail in advertising because they miss this step. Make sure your advertising points out something interesting to the prospect.
Two Examples:
Incorrect: “We’ve been serving our dental community for 37 years. Our patients are appreciated.”
Correct: “Want to get a pearly white smile in just 7 days? Give us a call today!”
Number 2: Solve Their Biggest Problem
Now that you have their attention - make it clear that you can solve their problem.
If you wash homes for example - make it clear that you’ll wash their home professionally and prevent mold buildup.
