Multitasking Isn’t Real

Hi,

It’s Jonah.

Was doing client work and realized something that sounds simple... but it's actually quite profound.

And it's good to remind yourself of regularly.

You can only do one thing at a time.

Really. Truly.

Multitasking isn't real.

What we know as multitasking is just you forcing your brain to switch between one task and another really really quickly.

Tires your brain out like nothing else.

Ever had those days where you're constantly running from one thing to the next, putting out fires, taking calls, answering emails?

Then you look back and ask yourself: 'what did I actually get done?'.

And you're disappointed with your own answer.

I've been there. It's draining. That's what multitasking and surface level stuff does to your brain.

If you're doing any kind of project, working on any kind of problem, trying to reach any kind of goal - question you should be asking yourself is always:

"What's the next thing we need to work on?"

Ad account not doing well? Google ranking not what you want? Don't feel fit? Sales weak? Ask yourself:

"What's the next thing we need to work on?"

Then go to work on that.

The other stuff on the list will take care of itself in due time.

Talk soon,

Jonah
